Born into the working class of an inner city, I have experienced the stark contrast between the authenticity of lifestyle and the exclusivity of spaces reserved for the "upper echelon" of society. It was clear that lifestyle in its authenticity is not just a luxury, but a birthright. At the cross-section of social equity where access has been marginalized by lack of family name, formal education elitism, or economic rationalism - in theory, the interconnection is a farfetched concept. This led me to dissect the concept of indubitable social capital and why, as a socially charged demographic, we have yet to materialize it.

 

With disposable incomes and evolving lifestyles steady on the rise, there’s opportunity to stimulate growth in emerging economies across the diaspora. Despite this, economic trends reveal a startling reality: less than 3% of the current Black dollar circulates within Black-owned enterprises. This disparity serves as a testament to a persistent issue — Black people possess significant buying power, so why aren't we investing strategically within our social circles? My work is to be the solution that shifts mindsets and impacts more conscious group thought that directly contributes to the growth and sustainability of our communities.
